Ma Long is Ranked 3rd in the men’s world table tennis rankings by ITTF as as JAN 2009. However, Ma Long is currently at the top spot in the Under 21 ITTF boys ranking, which position he has been continuously holding since February 2006.
In February 2007, in the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open, the 18-year old Ma Long overcame world number 1 to win his first Men’s singles title on the ITTF Pro Tour. Earlier, in 2004, Ma Long got his first major singles title when he won the World Junior Championships in Wellington, New Zealand. In the same year, he also triumphed in the Asian Youth Championships ATTU-Juniors.
